• We learned that Drake has a lot of toys, and he loves to share his toys with the other kids.

*** Elsewhat, in the Eternal Now ***

"I know that smile... you're sure about this?", Farah asked.

"Come with me."

Farah's hesitation found no words, she knew no argument would change Drey's mind. Had her love decided instead to storm hell's abyss (again), Farah would have stood beside her, but this was different. Her road had not been easy, it was only meeting Drey that made it bearable, but what if they didn't this time? The mortal plane is full of turbulence, existing in the fragile apex of all others - Farah knew no destiny could be certain. Her power was... delightful, but she was willing to part from it for the right cause; Farah's soul held but one fear...

On some level Dreyanna shared that fear, but that level was so deep even her id could not sense it. There was a time, a year or so after they met, when Drey thought she had lost her... though it was only the cruel illusion of the abyss it drove Drey to abandon her escape and return to the darkest depths - willfully surrendering her soul and memory just to be with her. Whether it was because or in spite of that experience, Dreyanna knew no force could ever keep them apart; for her the prospect of rebirth was exciting, the opportunity to meet and fall in love all over again... even if they did not ascend this time, they would still be reunited in the afterworld.

"It's only one lifetime, we'll be back before anyone notices", Drey didn't believe that either but it sounded good. "Besides, what do we actually do? I respect their ideals but wish we never joined the damned council - I'm tired of watching worlds burn while we do nothing", rather than give Farah a chance to rebut, Drey split from her eternal being and dove through.

"That's not-", was all Farah got out before realizing she had already done it; Dreyanna's eyes were cold now, the woman was there, but her love had gone. A single tear clung to her lash as she stroked Drey's cheek. Farah was met with the same regal, stoic gaze she had seen many times in council - Drey was right, they wouldn't even notice.

Grabbing her hand, Farah watched over Drey's new life.

Andrea, they called her; Farah smiled as she knew it was not the first time Drey had used that name... it had been the name of the first living avatar she projected after their ascension.

As a child, Andi developed an unhealthy obsession with fire; in her fifth year, and to her mother's horror, the girl climbed into the fireplace to hug it - the flames didn't even singe her pajamas. The gesture was not lost on Farah, tears flowed freely as she wished she could hug her back.

As childhood gave way to adolescence, Farah found a new fear... what if young Dre fell in love? Indeed Dre soon began to explore her sexuality, in ways that made even Farah blush, but always alone. The girl fell in love with sports, especially weight training, but never took interest in other students - not even socially.

Dre often over-trained, taking sensual pleasure where she should have pain. Farah's lips burned with desire, for each rep was a passionate kiss, and she took her time with each.

At last Farah understood why Drey didn't share her fear, for even with no memory of this lifetime Drey's love for Farah remained. Even as a mortal, Drey felt Farah's essence in both of her twin dominions ~ and felt safe in them, knowing she would never hurt her. "Still doing the impossible?", a single tear made it's way to her mid cheek before Farah flash-boiled it off.

Farah felt a great pride and calm took hold as she watched Dre finish high school. She now believed Drey was right, that they would always be able to feel/find each other. Farah now considered joining her in the mortal plane, but knew she had lost the opportunity to grow up together; it wasn't that time had passed, for here it had no meaning, she could go anywhen she wanted - the problem was that she had watched, she could not participate in events that were now in her past (once witnessed they could not be changed).

"Next time", she told herself; Farah knew there would be, because Drey's enough of a thrill seeker to pull this stunt again. Actually, she didn't regret her decision; it was truly a blessing to watch her love grow up.

In the years that followed high school, Dre continued to show impressive aptitudes in academics and athletics. Dre's future grew ever brighter, but Farah felt something wasn't right... she felt a darkness growing around her. The pattern wasn't familiar, but it was potent.

Farah's fear is magnified when she feels this dark force begin hunting for Andrea. Two days later thugs cornered Dre in an alleyway. Without risking witness to the event, Farah tears free of her eternal self and dives though, burning the thought, "find her, save her", deep into her soul.

Dreyanna's eternal form grasps the hand of Farah's, and the two divine shells share a knowing glance, smiling at their new found freedom from mortal conscience. At a million temples on a thousand worlds the foundations cracked; the faithful heard the calling, their crusades were about to begin.
