The Earth had changed much since last she was here... the masses were now ruled through convoluted social hierarchies. How strange, she thought, that a handful of infirm men should be allowed to besiege an entire world. Humans were becoming a disappointment for Zarna, even the Xi had more sense than to destroy their home, though admittedly not much more, she mused. Techno-races, what a waste of DNA.
Zarna almost pitied the other factions, unable to travel the ocean of lights without artifice, so pathetic they can't survive in the simplest of environments unaided. Well, she wasn't about to let another race fall to such mediocrities, not this one at least. She was just a child when she last saw this little blue ball; she thought it was such a beautiful planet back then, before it was tamed by... science.

Samuels set the shattered remains of his scotch onto his desk and adjusted his glasses as he considered the implications of what he had just witnessed.
Drake swallowed hard as he watched the girl breaking his toy super-soldier. He was certain she wasn't Val, but whatever she was he knew they wouldn't be far behind. He was out of time.
With a couple of taps on a desk panel he called in every slagman in the vicinity to attack, and opened a secret hatch to his escape vehicle. A few minutes later he was on a suborbital trajectory to his new multi-billion dollar facility in China.
